Helen Marie (Herman) Koob, age 44

Mrs. Helen Marie (Herman) Koob, of 544 Park Road, West Hartford, was born January 5, 1900 in Philadelphia, daughter of Cecilia (Dohman) and Adolph Herman.  She was found dead, with her son, B. Herbert Koob, Jr., at the circus grounds after the fire on July 6, and they were buried at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford, after services at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home on July 9.   Helen is survived by her mother; her husband, B. Herbert Koob, Sr., 46;  their daughter, Miss Gloria Koob, 17; three brothers, Walter, Edwin and Frederick Herman, all of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Mrs. Henry Seib of New Jersey.

Helen attended the circus with her son, B. Herbert, Jr., and the sister of Miss Gloria Koob's fiancé, Marcia Ann Rackliffe.  Marcia escaped the burning big top by jumping from the top of the seats, and running outside to safety where she searched in vain for the Koobs.

Body #2116 was identified as Helen Koob at the State Armory on Friday, July 7, by her husband, B. Herbert Koob.  At the time of her death, Helen was employed as a saleslady at a millinery store.  Her estate was awarded $9,500 by the arbitration board.
