Dorothy Celina (Scott) Matthews, age 34

Mrs. Dorothy Celina (Scott) Matthews, of 38 Walnut Road, Rocky Hill, was born June 20, 1910 in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of Connecticut native Grace M. (Fowler) and English-born Ernest Scott.  Dorothy was found dead at the circus grounds after the fire on July 6, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Central Village, Connecticut after services at St. Martin's Church in Providence on July 9.  Mrs. Matthews is survived by her husband, Stanley W. Matthews, 35, and their son Richard A., age 11.  Their daughter, Rosyln, 5, was also a victim of the circus fire.  

Body #1582 was identified as Dorothy Matthews at the State Armory by a friend, Mrs. Cullen, on July 7.  Dorothy's estate was awarded $10,750 by the arbitration board.
