Gail Ann Barry, age 5
Miss Gail Ann Barry of 36 Curtiss Street, Hartford, was born April 29, 1939 in Hartford, daughter of Gladys (Morin) and Hartford native Vincent D. Barry of the Hartford Fire Department. Gail attended the circus with her mother, Gladys, and both were found dead at the circus grounds after the fire on July 6 and were buried at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield after services at the Thomas P. Farley Funeral Home. In addition to her father, Gail leaves her paternal grandmother Mrs. Lucy Barry of West Hartford; her maternal grandparents Elizabeth (Bird) and Peter Morin of Hartford; and several aunts and uncles.
Before the fire, Gail's mother, Gladys, was said to be looking for seats next to Gail's cousin, Nancy Spada, but their section was full so Gladys found seats near the animal runway. Body #1526 was identified at the State Armory as Gail Ann Barry by her aunt on Thursday, July 6. The estate of Miss Barry was awarded $6,500 by the arbitration board.
