Thousands of circus fans attended the afternoon show on July 6, 1944, and many were fortunate enough to survive the blaze. Here are the names of some of the survivors, also including names of persons who helped or are otherwise associated with the Hartford circus fire.

Yacavone, Joan; Hartford
- Awarded $1,500 by the arbitration board for injuries received in the fire.THC
Yannone, Vincent F. (8); Hartford
- Attended the circus with his aunt, Frances B. Reid, and they sat in the bleacher seats in the southwest corner. When Vincent saw the fire, he told his aunt who told him not to worry, but quickly changed her mind and they ran out of the big top to safety. Vincent's story was printed in the June 1999 Yankee Magazine which can be seen here.
- Vincent Francis Yannone, 85, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 27, 2022, after a long illness. [link to obituary / back-up link]
Young, Lydia S. (36); Bolton
- Miss Young, a schoolteacher, was awarded $750 for her injuries received in the circus fire, which included bruises on her arms, legs and body, a severe contusion on her right side, and nervous shock.
Young, Mona (12); Hartford
- Survived the fire and helped others.
- Mona (Young) Graham passed peacefully on October 5, 2019 at age 87. [obituary/back-up link]
